Celestite (SrSO₄) is the only commercial source of strontium, and Iran is among its recognised producers. Its main use is the manufacture of strontium carbonate for magnetic ferrites, specialty glass and pyrotechnics. The SrSO₄ grade and the accompanying barium content are the two criteria on which a consignment is accepted.
