Cracked fuel oil, or CFO, is the heaviest cut leaving the cracking furnace — what remains after the ethylene, propylene and pyrolysis gasoline have been separated. Its high concentration of polycyclic aromatics makes it valuable for carbon black production, and it is also burned as industrial fuel and used as feedstock for wax and grease.
