Solution SBR is polymerised in solution with an anionic catalyst rather than by the emulsion route. The result is a narrower molecular-weight distribution and a more controlled chain structure, which means lower energy loss and better wet grip. Bound styrene content is typically adjusted between 18% and 25%.
