ABS combines three monomers, each contributing something: acrylonitrile gives chemical resistance, butadiene impact strength, and styrene rigidity and surface quality. That balance makes it a common choice for appliance housings, automotive parts and electronic enclosures. Platable and flame-retardant grades are also supplied. ABS is not stable in sunlight and needs UV stabilisation for outdoor use.
