Talc 10% to 40% — higher stiffness and heat resistance

Adding talc to polypropylene raises stiffness, heat resistance and dimensional stability and reduces post-moulding shrinkage — which is why it is so widely used in automotive interior parts, appliances and electrical housings. The price of that improvement is reduced low-temperature impact strength, usually offset by adding an elastomeric modifier to the formulation. Talc loading and particle fineness are the two main formulation variables.
